How should I store my Gel Polish?
Let's face facts Nail Queens, your gel polish collection is a significant investment and we want to ensure you maximise every single drop!
The storage of gel polish is vital to protect its lifespan so we've created this blog to help you protect your fabulous gel investment.
To store gel polish and extend its shelf life:
1. Keep it in a cool, dark place: Gel polish is sensitive to light and heat. Store it in a cool, dry area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humidity. A drawer or a cabinet works well.
2. Avoid extreme temperatures: Gel polish should be kept at a temperature between 8°C and 28°C. Avoid storing it in places where temperature and humidity can fluctuate.
3. Seal the bottles firmly: Always make sure the lids are firmly sealed to prevent air from getting in and causing the polish to thicken or cure prematurely. Try to avoid getting polish on the neck of the bottle as it can affect the seal, if you have polish on the neck use an alcohol swab or lint free wipe soaked with isopropyl alcohol to clean.
4. Store upright: Store bottles upright to prevent leakage or separation of the polish ingredients. This ensures the polish maintains its consistency and doesn't get clumpy.
5. Roll before use: Gel polish can sometimes separate over time. Before use, gently roll the bottle (don’t shake as it will cause air bubbles!) to mix the formula.
6. Avoid freezing: While it’s important to keep it cool, don’t store gel polish in freezing temperatures, as this can cause it to become too thick or change in consistency.
7. And finally, keep your polish AWAY from your UV/LED lights!!
By following these tips, your gel polish should remain usable and effective for as long as possible!
